Doctor-administered HIFU treatment
Non-Invasive Lifting

HIFU

A lift that reaches the layer surgery targets, without cutting the skin.

What is HIFU?

The SMAS layer, addressed non-surgically.

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) delivers focused ultrasound energy to the SMAS layer — the same deeper tissue layer addressed in a surgical facelift — without cutting or disrupting the skin's surface. The energy is designed to stimulate collagen production, supporting a gradual lifting and tightening effect.

At FMAC, HIFU is assessed and delivered by Dr Gerald Tan, who will review your facial structure and suitability at consultation before recommending a treatment plan.

How it works

Focused energy, delivered deep.

Focused ultrasound energy is directed to a precise depth to reach the SMAS layer beneath the skin, generating heat at that level to stimulate the body's own collagen production. Because the energy is focused at depth, the skin's surface is left undisrupted while deeper structural tissue is engaged.

Some warmth, mild redness or tenderness may be felt, generally settling quickly.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions.

Is HIFU safe?
It is a doctor-administered procedure. Dr Gerald Tan assesses your facial structure and suitability individually before every treatment, and will discuss any risks specific to your case.
Does it hurt?
Most patients tolerate HIFU reasonably well, though some warmth or mild discomfort is possible as the focused energy is delivered, particularly over bonier areas.
What is the downtime?
Downtime is generally minimal. Some mild redness or tenderness may be felt immediately after treatment, and typically settles quickly.
When will I see results?
Response varies between individuals — results typically develop gradually over roughly two to three months as collagen remodels. Outcomes cannot be predicted in advance and depend on individual skin condition.
How many sessions will I need?
HIFU is typically delivered as a single session. Dr Tan will advise whether a repeat session may be appropriate for you at a later date.
